Bio
Morgen Ames has a passion for music and a passion for teaching, and is blessed to have been able to combine the two. She spent her formative years in Wilton, Connecticut and Paris, France. Her mother is British, a former professional ballerina and an avid fan of classical music, and her father worked in international finance but is also an artist (oil painting) and a trumpeter. The arts surrounding her as a child certainly impacted her desire to pursue music professionally. She began playing the piano at four years old and studied both classical and jazz piano until college, at which point she devoted herself to classical conservatory studies. Morgen has been singing since she could speak, but it was not until age nine that she began to sing formally with a chamber choir. Since then she has performed regularly as a soprano soloist at innumerate venues, and as an ensemble soprano of chamber and concert choirs. Morgen received formal voice training from Wanda Brister and has studied piano with Dr. Allan Brings and Steven Graff, among others. She considers her talents gifts from God, and seeks to share those gifts with others through teaching.Morgen lives in Exeter, New Hampshire with her husband, Dale and their daughter, Celine. They moved to New Hampshire from Connecticut in 2007 and love the Seacoast. In her spare time, Morgen loves to read, exercise and garden. Morgen and her family enjoy spending time together outdoors, renovating their house and being involved with their church.
Educator
Morgen offers private one-on-one piano and voice lessons for children and adults at her home/studio in Exeter. Until the birth of her daughter in November '09, she also taught at Acorn School in Stratham. Prior to moving to New Hampshire, she taught early childhood music classes at Music For Children in CT. She holds a B.A. in music with concentrations in piano performance, vocal performance and music history from Hunter College (New York, New York). She has completed extensive graduate work in the field of music education at Lehman College (Bronx, NY) and University of Bridgeport (Bridgeport, CT), and is a member of the Music Teacher National Association, the New Hampshire State Music Teacher's Association and the Seacoast Local Music Teacher's Association.
